Get Dad Some Great Grooming Gifts for Father's Day!
Contents
Why is it so hard to shop for a great Father's Day gift?
It really needn't be. After all, there are so many things that men could use that they rarely splurge on. Grooming gifts for Father's Day is as easy as it can get.
He already shaves, wears cologne, maybe a hair product. If your old man is anything like mine was, he uses the cheapest versions of all the grooming gear a guy needs.
So, why not help Dad out by getting him something a notch above what he is used to?
Let's start with the most obvious.
Shaving
He probably shaves almost every day and could use an upgrade on his sorry shaving set. If you can even call it a set. A can of cheap Barbasol, a cheap disposable razor and a splash of some Brut after shave is not what I would consider a "set".
Open up his eyes to a great shaving experience by getting him some of these classic shaving items.
5 Piece Men's Shaving Set -- Double Edge Razor, Badger Brush, Chrome Bowl, GBS Soap and Stand
There's nothing quite like a traditional wet shave. If your father isn't doing this once in a while, I guarantee he used to at one time as it was something every man felt he had to tackle at some point in his life.
You can't get a closer shave than with a brush and safety razor. The badger hair brush and soap opens up the pores, lifts the stubble and moisturizes the skin. Then the fine blade of the safety razor dispatches the beard with ease.
Once a week, every guy out there should be giving himself the perfect wet shave! Dad is no exception. He will be pleased with this gift, for sure.
If you think your dad is old school enough and could use something of a hobby, then a great straight edge razor and strop might be for him.
Men's Barber 3 Pieces Cut Throat Straight Edge Razor Leather Sharpening Strop & Dovo Paste Shaving Set
Dad might love you for this gift or hate you for it. Maintaining the edge of a traditional straight razor is something of a chore. Unless your Dad will love the zen aspect of the ritual of stropping and honing. If he doesn't want one more thing added to the list of things he must take care of, then maybe he won't appreciate a gift that requires care.
If that is the case then you should consider a disposable straight edge razor.
Dovo Silver Shavette Satin Finish Straight Razor
This is the straight edge razor I use at work. It is lightweight but solid and very maneuverable. Though the blades aren't quite as sharp as a perfectly honed traditional straight edge, swapping out the disposable blade is very convenient. It is a pretty good compromise for the guy that just can't be bothered keeping the edge on a razor.
If you think he just doesn't want to be bothered by doing the traditional wet shave, then maybe try for a better version of a disposable razor.
Heavyweight All-metal Triple Blade Razor From Parker Safety Razor
Sometimes you just need to look good while giving yourself a shave.
The handle looks like the classic safety razor, but, instead it holds a Gillette Mach III disposable head. It has a nice weight to it, so it also functions well.
Your father will inevitably encounter a few nicks when using a safety razor or straight edge, so he will need a nice block of styptic to stop the bleeding.
Gentleman Jon 3.7 Ounce Alum Block in Plastic Case
Add this little item to any shaving kit you decide to give your father. This block will give Dad that burn that hurts so good. He should rub it all over his face after a shave to close up the pores and clean up the little nicks.
Now, how about an upgrade on that can of Barbasol with the rusty bottom that's been sitting in the medicine cabinet for ages?
The Art of Shaving Shaving Cream, Sandalwood
The Art of Shaving company likes to say that you should convert shaving from routine to ritual.
They have been making superior shaving products for some time now and I think everybody should try out at least 1 of their products. A good start would be this sandalwood shaving cream.
You don't need a badger hair brush to apply it, but it would be better if you did. Rubbing it onto a wet face with your hands works, too.
Its scent screams classic barbershop scent, and it works fantastic. You will never go back to the canned stuff again!
Speaking of that classic barbershop scent, your father probably remembers how those old school barbershops smelled and wouldn't mind having that scent for a great Father's Day gift. Why not get him some cologne that smells like his childhood barbershop?
Taylor of Old Bond Street Cologne, Shaving Shop
Starting off citrusy with some light spice notes, it will remind you of a classic shaving cream. Not unlike Barbasol, but way classier than that and much more complex. You will see what I mean if you try this. The basenotes are a little bit woody with a very slight musk undertone. It is delicate, but still very masculine.
Your dad might be low key and modest, but he will surely enjoy all the compliments he gets when he wears this cologne.
O'Douds - Natural Cologne (Heritage & Tobacco Rum)
If your father is very manly, but uses cheap cologne, then you will be doing him and everybody in his vicinity a huge favor by buying him this as a gift.
O'Douds makes this cologne with some rich, and deep scents that just scream "masculine". The scent of tobacco is not heavy at all and the rum adds some nice spice notes. It's sweet without being overbearing.
If your Dad is of the bearded variety, I'm going to bet he needs some help with his beard game. First, I recommend reading up on how to maintain a beard.
Mountaineer Brand Beard Care Kit
If you're on a budget for a Father's Day gift, then you can't go wrong with this beard care kit. You get all the essentials.
You get a beard wash, a shampoo for your beard (which is necessary because your beard hair and your head hair are totally different and have different needs). You get a beard oil, which helps prevent frayed hairs and keeps your beard and skin moisturized. You get a beard balm, essentially a conditioner to keep your beard soft (Mom will thank you for that). And you get a beard brush, which helps helps keep your beard looking fresh and gets the oil down to the skin.
As a bonus, all the ingredients used in the Mountaineer products are all natural. I am a big proponent of natural grooming products, whether it is for your beard, or for your hair.
If he already has a bunch of beard grooming products, but his beard still needs help, then he probably needs a beard trimmer.
Philips Norelco Beard trimmer Series 7200, Vacuum trimmer
It's easy for a beard to get raggedy looking before you know it. The ends get split and frayed and the edges are all out of whack.
Dad needs to get his beard looking fresh again, but doesn't want to make a mess of the bathroom. He also is really busy doing wicked manly things, so he doesn't have time to get to the barber and get his beard shaped up.
If you give him this great grooming Father's Day gift, then he will be really grateful because you just helped him save some time and look better in the process.
The Cut Buddy - Hair, Beard & Mustache - Haircut Lining / Shaping / Edging / Trim Guide Tool
It can be really difficult to get the edges of your beard lined up evenly. As a barber I do beard trims all day and 9 times out of 10, the beard is really uneven. I haven't tried this product myself as I don't have a beard, but I think any extra help can be very useful even if it doesn't do a perfect job
Are you and your father real bros? If so, then this next gift recommendation will work. If not, then you might be sending the wrong signal by getting this for him.
baKblade's "BIGMOUTH" Do-It-Yourself Back Hair Shaver
Nothing says "I Love You, Dad!" quite like getting him a gift that also says "Dude, get your back hair under control!"
If your father looks like he's wearing a sweater at the beach, then he will probably be grateful for a gift like this that he doesn't have to get himself.
Unfortunately, with age, comes unwanted hair. I'm considering getting this for myself. Especially since it doesn't require shaving cream, so one can discreetly go about removing that hair without somebody's help.
If your Dad still has his hair, then he probably needs it washed.
18.21 Man Made Wash, Fortifying Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash
If you were paying attention earlier in the thread you read about the O'Douds Tobacco Rum Cologne. It seems that the tobacco scent is all the rage these days as masculinity is back in fashion.
Your Dad should bath in that scent. Literally. Now he can with this shampoo by 18.21 Man Made!
If you can't decide on which gift to get him, then you can take the easy way out and get a grooming kit like the Man Can.
The Man Can All Natural Bath and Body Gift Set for Men
I have a soft spot for the products from the Plum Island Soap Co., as it is from one of my favorite places in the world. Plum Island Massachusetts. Without diving too deep into the nostalgia pool, I will always think of the scent of the store when I would go there after watching a beautiful sunset over the marsh behind the island.
It might be taking the easy way out of gift giving, but these products are really well made and are artisanal as well as being natural. Dad will love the gift.
Another easy gift is a sample of skin care products. Your Dad might be getting up there in age, but he shouldn't look weathered. If he likes to take care of his appearance he should be using argan oil products like what you find in this sample bag.
Hammam Home Face and Body Spa - Argan
Let Dad feel like he is in a Moroccan Hammam even if he doesn't have a passport. The argan oil used in these bath products help the skin stay healthy, happy and young. A proven anti aging treatment.
Help him up his shower game with this kit as it has an exfoliating glove similar to the ones used in the Moroccan baths. Using that mitt with the soaps and mask will leave him feeling rejuvenated, moisturized and glorious.
Where will he put all these great grooming gifts that you've given him? And what will he do when he travels?
Vetelli Leather Toiletry Bag for Men (Dopp Kit) with Travel Bottles
Get him a leather toiletry bag that comes with travel bottles that he can fill with his soaps and shampoo, shaving cream, etc.
He might not be traveling anywhere fancy, but he can do it in style anyway. Besides, I am sure Mom has taken up much of the available space in the bathroom, so with this toiletry bag he can keep his stuff easy to find and out of the way.
As I mentioned at the beginning, it shouldn't be so hard to find a perfect Father's Day gift. Even the man who has everything needs some of these items at least.
All of the items are on Amazon so it's easy to order and if you use Amazon Prime, then you can have it on your doorstep in 2 days.
